Slogging in the fog

I am not a big fan of fog or winter for that matter.  Most of October had found us on the Island waking to fog and slogging through the day until bedtime if the grey sogginess of the day.

I am still commuting to work by bike, but I feel an unease in the fog.  Visibility is an issue and even with the hi viz traffic vest people don't see you until they are almost crawling up your tailpipe.

(I was out walking Pupzilla when I snapped this pic)

I also admit to finding the irresprissible never ending greyness a lit hard on the mindset.  I am a sunshine person and thrive in the light.  Some people find the fog mysterious and love it, not me.

The FOG was really thick this morning. Probably the worst it as been since last week. I change my route so I don't have to make left turns without a dedicated left turn lane and even then the oncoming traffic blow through their red lights. You can never tell if they are going to stop or gun it as you are in the middle of the intersection . . .

be safe out there

With as seldom as we have fog, I still find it a welcome veil on things. We just don't get it that often and when we do, it's over with mid-day and normally the conditions that brought the thick air morph into things good.

A steady diet of it would not work for me either.

Dense fog is really dangerous and I remember some horrific pileups in CA. On the order of 70 vehicles in one pileup. But the morning fog we usually get is more photogenic than dangerous and it may slow some people down. We do get ice fog when the temperatures dip below -40 and that is really dangerous to drive in as well as very unhealthy to breath. Fortunately, you don't have to deal with that…

The fog that is here is a pea souper and it feels like it is weighing a 1,000 on my heart, soul, and body. Unfortunately it's chills thing down and the dampness isn't helping my joints at all.

I think the fog can be eerie and mysterious, but it has a time and place. It is not so cool when commuting in it.

We've been lucky with brilliant sunshine every day when the fog burns off. Being closer to the water must be why you are socked in.

Keep on dukcing the fog :-)

I am with Brandy on this. Fog can be beautiful but certainly not when commuting, and surrounded by idiot drivers... We had misty September mornings but October so far has been pretty good (far too warm) and fog free. Be careful out there.

It has been a weird couple of days, the fog hasn't lifted at all and is almost like it has decided its here to stay. We haven't seen the sky for 7 straight days and are on the way to breaking a record with it. It is foggy this morning and heavier. Commuting has been a little unsettling because people honestly don't see you until they are almost on top of you. Traffic vest does nothing in this stuff either to add to visibility.
