$3558.00 was raised through donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - BC Yukon, all funds raised on Vancouver Island will stay on the island and be directed towards research and treatment. Kathie from BC Breast Cancer Foundation indicated they have a target date of 2020 where women when given the diagnosis will know that advances have been made and treatment will be readily available and expect better treatment outcomes.
There is HOPE on the horizon! By working together raising funds to assist in research and treatment we can and will beat breast cancer. Be proactive by doing breast self exam, teach it to your daughters, ask your girlfriends if they routinely do BSE and if they don't, give them information about how important it is to learn and do regularly. Your family doctor or nurse practitioner can explain how to do BSE correctly. Get regular check-ups and routine screening mammography these are the keys to successful treatment.
