Island adventure day! Part 1

Today was another hot sunny summer day on the Island.  It was a perfect day to ride up Island and visit Parksville to see the Sandcastles.  Every year Parksville holds an amazing competition a people come from all over the world to create these beautiful works of art.  Motorcycle Man and I met up with my friend Deb & off we went.

The theme for this years competition was fairy tales.  It was incredible to see these beautiful sculptures in the sand.

They have a large stickpin map where visitors put pins to show where they are from.  Very cool!

This one was 'Rub a dub dub 3 men in a pub' there appears to be a 4th person. :)

'My precious' Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

Wow!! and I thought I could build a castle....Looks like the map ran out of pins as well as places to put them.

Awesome sandcastles. I remember when they used to hold these in Penticton every year. Not only are they amazing to view when complete, but to see them being built is a sight to behold.

A great excuse to ride in the summer sun.

Awesome! Such fun to ride there and see it all!

There used to be a sand castle expo in one of the local malls here. You could stand by and watch them build it. It was amazing...
