Shoes glorious shoes - ATGATT SAY NO TO FLIP FLOPS

My 2 favorite pair of shoes.

We motorcyclists are an eclectic if not eccentric group.  We all have our favorite motorcycle boots and gear.  On the flip side of this is our other favorite footwear.  Bobskoot loves his pink crocs and is often seen with free ranging toes.  Other moto bloggers have shown off their fancy foot work on their blogs from time to time.  I love summer and wearing pretty girly shoes and I really am a shoe horse when it comes down to it.  I loved the 80's and the spiky high stiletto heels that were the rage when I was young.  Most days though finds me in my lovely motorcycle boots, which are great for riding, but quite honestly suck in summer because they are pretty hot.  On my way home today I saw a girl riding a white CBR which normally is awesome, but I was disappointed because she was wearing dress clothes and lovely feminine dress shoes - great for the office, but not for the bike.

I know I sound like a broken record and harp about squidly riders, but honestly do you really want to take a chance losing a toe or foot?  For those who make the choice to ride squid go try some mesh gear, seriously it is comfortable and you are getting some protection.  Road rash hurts and Brittany Morrow aka Road Rash Queen can attest to how bad it hurts and how much you have to lose riding without gear.      Check out her site www.rockthegear.org.  Please practice ATGATT.

Your first pic says "my 2 favorite pair of shoes" but I only see one pair, you must have another pair just like it, giving you four combinations of fashion. You go girl.

Those shoes are gorgeous .. all of them!

I dont understand wearing your dress shoes on a bike ... why would you want to ruin a perfectly good pair of shoes on a bike .. or a perfectly good pair of feet for that matter.

Shoes or un-shoes, I love them all, but "free range" toes are truly the best . . .

Rog - thanks :). I think I am going to get platform moto boots,it was easier throwing the leg over when I was getting off. Hate being under tall.

Troubadour - I think I need some hot red motorcycle boots, maybe one day I will have a pair made.

Brenda - I have always wondered the same thing. I think it is shear laziness and lack of knowledge or experience. I will never understand not wearing gear.

Bob - how is the ankle doing? Hope your pink crocs are going with you On your trip,

Love the concept behind the photo! I could have done the same idea. :)

It's fun to mix two worlds that people think are contradictory. They really aren't.

Shy - thanks, a gal has to know which shoe/boot is fitting for the occasion. It stuns me when I see people taking reckless chances with their bodies and wearing very little or no gear at all. *But those sling back sandals are my fave, they ame in red too & I should have bought those ones too.

Great pics Dar. And I agree moto-boots are too warm in the summer heat, but I still don't ride without them.

Sure wish I could wear high heels, but alas too many ankle surgeries tell me no way, unless I want to fall over.

Trobairitz - I have taken to going sockless in my moto boots, thank goodness for Febreeze :) I just don't get the whole not wearing proper footwear or gear for that matter. I guess some have to learn the hard way. Love your pic of your fave shoes on your bike!

Pam - LOL you know me too well. I think I have a whole shoe wardrobe at work. Yesterday though I brought shoes to work, thought they were the same, I am kind of Inattentive before coffee, turns out I brought 2 different shoes to work. Good thing for the spares I keep under my desk.

After seeing the horrific scar my mom has from crashing on a motorcycle, I'd never ride without protective gear. Seem scary to me!

Love the juxtaposition of the dressy shoe and tough boot shot! Lovely idea.

Megan Mae - thank you for the compliment on the picture. I hope your mom doesn't have any lingering effects from here accident. It is very scary what can happen to your body if you dont protect it when riding. I wish more people were as sensible & realize the risk, you can't eliminate it, but you can minimize it to a point.
