Sunset on Dallas Road at Clover Point

Today there was a spectacular sunset on Dallas Road at Clover Point. (Vancouver Island)

Today was a spectacularly beautiful warm day for fall, it was much better than was forecasted.  I found myself staring wistfully out my window at work all day and could hear Lucy calling to me from the parking garage "Dar come on lets go play, I want to ride twisties!"  What made it harder today besides hearing Lucy calling me was that some of my friends from riding school were out enjoying the day.  After work I found myself taking the long way home and decided to stop and watch the sunset.  It was gorgeous and I snapped a bunch of pictures and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Dar:

you must get off work early. It is after sunset when I leave.

Looks like you used a whole roll of film today

I was finished by 4 today and tootles through Beacon Hill park & couldn't find anything inspiring enough to make me stop & take photos. Rode over to Dallas and it was beautiful. Sadly I think this is the calm before the storm and winter hitting us full on.

I was thinking along the same lines as bobskoot. "Wow, she must get off earlier than I do," I thought to myself. I don't like commuting home in the dark. It is light now in the morning. I'd rather commute in the pre-sunrise darkness than the post-sunset rat race. Oh well, thanks for the photos. It's early in the season. It still remember what the sunset looks like, but it was good to be reminded anyway.

Stunning sunset. Beautiful pictures Dar.

Keith - I sacrifice my lunch hour and work thru to get off at 4 instead of 5. I need to see some daylight during the winter or I fall into the depths of despair. Winters in Victoria are long, grey, and wet. I am living for spring already.

Trobairitz - thank you for the compliment, your pictures are always breathtaking and if I could take more like yours - wow.

Stunning photos Dar. I love the shot in the mirror. It's all about the composition and to me it's flawless. Thanks for adding the poem. My grandfather is buried in a military cemetery and November 11 is a special day. It's a really fitting post. Thanks.

David - thank you, the mirror shot is my fave, I took the picture at least 5 times until I got it right. All this from a small Canon pocket camera.

I am so grateful to all who have served in war time and peace time. I am also very thankful living in Canada because in this country women are truly free and have many opportunities.

Those who have died were all so young and these wars really took so much human potential away, who knows what the world would have been like if we had no concept of war or engaged in it.

Gorgeous sunset and a beautiful place to see it!

"...Lucy calling to me from the parking garage "Dar come on lets go play, I want to ride twisties!"...."

Sometimes those nagging bikes really get the better of you, don't they? ;o)

I have ridden the shore near Clover Point, and a more lovely stretch of road would be hard to find. Scooterchick and I have been thinking about bringing ours over to ride around the south end of the Island next year.

scootard - Love the name. The road to Tofino is lovely, but you need a pretty decent sized cc scoot or bike to do it. Very Twisty and then beside long beach - breathtaking.

Sunsets, I think I remember hearing about those...

Where I am today, in about a week there won't be any sunsets for a couple of months.

Very nice photos of the sunset especially the one in the mirror.

I don't think I could live where you do! I need to see some sun or I am a mess. I find te grey winters here overwhelming. I think I want to retire somewhere hot & sunny 24/7/365. How on earth do you do it?

Maybe the difference is winter is rarely drab or grey. I'm in Barrow today and not Fairbanks. And even here where there are no sunrises for a couple of months, the sun below the horizon still adds a lot of color to the sky.

Dar, these pictures are so beautiful. I remember some of the awesomest sunsets I have seen were on the island. Note to self: Need to return soon. Like that last one the most!!!

Sonja when you come over let me know & we can get together. I don't often go o Dallas Rd to watch the sunset, but I think I am going to try to get there a little more often. Everyone who was walking along there just stopped & watched, it was spectacular.
