Sunday at beautiful Beacon Hill Park

Who could believe that yesterday it was brilliantly sunny and warm, and today we are back to Fall again.  Yesterday my daughter and I went for a ramble through Beacon Hill Park in beautiful Victoria.  The gardens are spectacular and are a riot of colour.  We walked around snapping pictures and walking our little doggis.  Afterwards we went to a Victoria Institution the Beacon Drive-in and had ice cream, it was just that sort of day.  It was PERFECT!  Here's hoping that Mother Nature can get out of her blue funk and give us a few more summer days before we are officially into fall and winter.  I am not ready for winter gear yet.

I love going to the park and snapping pictures.  One of my favorite things to take pictures of are trees, not sure why, I think it is because the trees around here are so old and are just beautiful and awe inspiring.  Hope you enjoyed my little trip around Beacon Hill Park.

I have certainly enjoyed the walk in the park. Thank you. Did you wait until the people left the picture frame, or did you have the beauty of this park almost for yourself?

I waited for people to stroll out of the frame, lol I am a little obsessive compulsive that way. It was such a beautiful day and most people where laying in the sun. Is it windy & cold over in Vancouver today? We went from 2 days of gorgeous sun to winter again. I have to zip the sleeves back on my coat, I froze today. I can hardly wait to get to Tofino and take pictures. I am so excited I can hardly stand it.

Dar, for many years we lived in the Beacon Hill neighborhood in Beaconsfield. Curiously, my parents lived in the Beacon Hill section of Gloucester, a suburb of Ottawa. I always assumed that '60's developpers had little imagination and just named these places for the Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston. Your post prompted me to Google Beacon Hill. Wikipedia has a list of places named Beacon Hill. Beacon Hill Park in Victoria tops the short list of places called Beacon Hill in Canada. I was surprised that both Beaconsfield QC and Ottawa ON made the list. Google brought up Calgary AB as well, so Wikipedia is not perfect. Here's the URL:

David - your wiki link worked. I can tell you exactly why they would call it Beacon Hill in Victoria, there is a fairly good sized hill and you can see the Strait of Juan de Fuca quite nicely from there so it would be a great place to put a warning beacon in olden timees.

Trobairitz - Thanks! Yesterday was much of the same unsettled weather we have had for a long time. It seems we only get one or 2 sunny days and then back to cool and unsettled. It started this way this morning, but is quite brilliant this afternoon. I am a little worried about Tofino and think it might be on the chilly side. After all it is 'Fogust' in Tofino. I can hardly wait to go to the Tofino bakery and have some goodies there. Counting the hours until I am done. I will post pics, luckily we get wifi at our campsite. YAY!
